Life Despite the Winter

The NEW YEAR!

Many see the New Year as a time for spiritual reflection, a chance for new beginnings, an opportunity to party like a rock star, or a time to sit and reflect with distaste/contentment on the year past. As I've felt all of this and more for my New Year, I have a bad habit of expecting something phenomenal to happen, which invariably never does. However, this New Year was a highlight in the myriad of past disappointing years; this phenomenon manifested itself on the form of Takagawara Onsen. One work AWESOME. We sat in the gorgeous outdoor hot spring (while it was snowing) and we welcomed the year 2011.

Lotus Plants in the Park

In Ueno Park, we passed through a lotus bog; as it was my first time to see the lotus plant up close, I got a little carried away in snapping photos. Although the plants had died, the light was incredible and the bog was quite beautiful.
